A response at this level contains some relevant information from the

lecture, but is marked by significant language difficulties or by significant

omission or inaccuracy of important ideas from the lecture or in the

connections between the lecture and the reading; a response at this level

is marked by one or more of the following:

 The response significantly misrepresents or completely omits the overalln

connection between the lecture and the reading.

 The response significantly omits or significantly misrepresents importantn

points made in the lecture.

 The response contains language errors or expressions that largely obscuren

connections or meaning at key junctures or that would likely obscure

understanding of key ideas for a reader not already familiar with the reading

and the lecture.

A response at this level is marked by one or more of the following:

 The response provides little or no meaningful or relevant coherent contentn

from the lecture.

 The language level of the response is so low that it is difficult to deriven

meaning.

A response at this level merely copies sentences from the reading, rejects the

topic or is otherwise not connected to the topic, is written in a foreign language,

consists of keystroke characters, or is blank.

Independent Writing Rubrics

An essay at this level largely accomplishes all of the following:

 Effectively addresses the topic and taskn

 Is well organized and well developed, using clearly appropriaten

explanations, exemplifications, and/or details

 Displays unity, progression, and coherencen

 Displays consistent facility in the use of language, demonstrating syntacticn

variety, appropriate word choice, and idiomaticity, though it may have minor

lexical or grammatical errors

An essay at this level largely accomplishes all of the following:

 Addresses the topic and task well, though some points may not be fullyn

elaborated

 Is generally well organized and well developed, using appropriate andn

sufficient explanations, exemplifications, and/or details

 Displays unity, progression, and coherence, though it may containn

occasional redundancy, digression, or unclear connections

 Displays facility in the use of language, demonstrating syntactic varietyn

and range of vocabulary, though it will probably have occasional noticeable

minor errors in structure, word form, or use of idiomatic language that do

not interfere with meaning

An essay at this level is marked by one or more of the following:

 Addresses the topic and task using somewhat developed explanations,n

exemplifications, and/or details

 Displays unity, progression, and coherence, though connection of ideasn

may be occasionally obscured

 May demonstrate inconsistent facility in sentence formation and wordn

choice that may result in lack of clarity and occasionally obscure meaning

 May display accurate but limited range of syntactic structures andn

vocabulary

An essay at this level may reveal one or more of the following

weaknesses:

 Limited development in response to the topic and taskn

 Inadequate organization or connection of ideasn

 Inappropriate or insufficient exemplifications, explanations, or details ton

support or illustrate generalizations in response to the task

 A noticeably inappropriate choice of words or word formsn

 An accumulation of errors in sentence structure and/or usagen

An essay at this level is seriously flawed by one or more of the following

weaknesses:

 Serious disorganization or underdevelopmentn

 Little or no detail, or irrelevant specifics, or questionable responsiveness ton

the task

 Serious and frequent errors in sentence structure or usagen

An essay at this level merely copies words from the topic, rejects the topic, or

is otherwise not connected to the topic, is written in a foreign language, consists

of keystroke characters, or is blank.

3. 考查内容的改变 :一篇→两篇。写作部分由原来的一篇 30 分钟的 essay (TWE) 改为 两 篇 共 50 分 钟 的 essays, 其 中 综 合 写 作 (Integrated Task) 20 分 钟, 独 立 写 作

(Independent Task) 30 分钟。综合与独立写作部分的解题技巧可具体参见本书第二章的“新托福写作高分是这样炼成的”。

4. 考试载体的改变 :纸笔考试 (PBT) →机考 (iBT)。电脑界面上会出现一个文本框,考生可直接输入自己的文章,并有实时的字数统计。

5. 字数要求的改变 :综合写作 :150 ~ 225 字 ;独立写作 :300 字。
